Privacy Policy — Translate Slides with AI
Last updated: 9 August 2026
Translate Slides with AI has no accounts, ads, analytics, or tracking, and never sells or shares data. The only personal data the add-on touches is your email address, used solely to verify a Premium subscription (see “Premium payments” below). Since 9 August 2026 translation is performed by AI running on our own provider account rather than on a key you supply — what that means for your text is set out below.
- It works only on the presentation you have open. The add-on uses the "current presentation only" permission (
presentations.currentonly). It cannot access, list, or read any of your other Google Slides™, Drive files, Gmail™, contacts, or calendar.
- What happens to your text. When you click Translate, the text of the open presentation — or only the slide/selection you chose, plus speaker notes if ticked — is sent over HTTPS to OpenRouter (openrouter.ai), which routes it to the large-language model that performs the translation, and the result is written back into that same presentation. Your optional prompt, if you set one, is sent with it. This request is made by BiLingoPlus LLC under our own OpenRouter account, not under any account of yours; you supply no API key and have no billing relationship with OpenRouter. We do not store your text: it exists only in the request and the reply.
OpenRouter is an independent company, running on the default routing and data settings of our account. It has its own privacy policy and its own retention practices, and it may route a request to a model provider that retains or trains on submitted data. We do not control that and will not claim otherwise. AI translation is the only engine this add-on has, so there is no in-product alternative that keeps your text inside Google — please read OpenRouter’s privacy policy and do not run confidential decks through the add-on if that handling is not acceptable to you.
- Your settings (your optional prompt, theme choice, and how many slides you have translated this calendar month) are stored solely in your own Google account (Apps Script user properties). The add-on no longer asks for, stores, or transmits any API key of yours — that mechanism was removed on 9 August 2026 along with the bring-your-own-key engines.
- Nothing is retained. The add-on does not save your slides, your text, or any copy of your content anywhere outside the presentation itself.
- Third parties. We run no server of our own that touches your slides. Slide text reaches exactly one third party: OpenRouter, as described above. Separately, and never involving your slides, Paddle handles Premium payments and we query it with your email address to confirm a subscription.
Premium payments (Paddle)
Premium subscriptions are sold and processed by Paddle — our Merchant of Record — on Paddle's own secure checkout pages. The add-on never sees or stores your card details; Paddle also issues your receipts and handles applicable VAT/sales tax. If you start a Premium purchase or click "Activate Premium", the add-on sends your email address (your Google account email, or the checkout email you type) to Paddle, using a read-only API key, solely to confirm that an active subscription exists. The confirmation result ("premium: yes/no") is stored in your own Google account properties. Nothing else is shared with Paddle, and no payment data ever reaches the developer. Paddle's own privacy policy applies to the checkout.
Permissions used, solely to provide the feature
- See, edit, and configure the current presentation only (
presentations.currentonly) — to read the slide text and write the translation back into the open deck.
- Display and run third-party web content in prompts and sidebars (
script.container.ui) — to show the translator sidebar.
- Connect to an external service (
script.external_request) — to send the text to OpenRouter under our own account for translation, and — if you start a Premium purchase or activation — to verify your subscription status with Paddle (read-only).
- See your primary Google Account email address (
userinfo.email) — used only to recognise your Premium subscription (and to pre-fill the checkout email). Never used for marketing and never shared with anyone except Paddle for the verification above.
How sensitive data is protected
- Encryption in transit. Every request the add-on makes — to Google's own services, to OpenRouter, or to Paddle — is sent exclusively over HTTPS/TLS. No data is ever transmitted over an unencrypted channel.
- Protected storage. Your settings are stored only in Google's Apps Script
PropertiesService user store — private, per-user storage that lives inside your own Google account and is protected by your Google account's security controls (including 2-Step Verification, if you use it). There is no developer server or database: nothing is ever copied outside your account.
- Access controls. The developer has no technical means to read your stored properties or your slide text; slide text is never written to any store of ours, and exists only for the duration of a translation request. The add-on holds no API key of yours because it no longer asks for one. It also requests the narrowest OAuth scope Google offers for its job (
presentations.currentonly), so it structurally cannot reach any file other than the presentation you opened it in.
- Payment data is handled entirely by Paddle, our PCI-DSS-compliant Merchant of Record; card details never touch the add-on or the developer.
Data retention and deletion
- Slide content — not retained. The text of your presentation is processed transiently, only for the duration of the translation run you started, and the result is written back into that same presentation. No copy of your slides, text, or translations is stored anywhere after the run completes.
- Settings (optional prompt, theme, this month's slide count) are retained in your own Google account's user properties only until you change or erase them. The monthly count resets on the 1st.
- Erase everything in one click. The sidebar's “Erase my data” action permanently deletes every value the add-on has stored for your account — your optional prompt, your theme, your subscription status and all other settings. This takes effect immediately and cannot be undone. Two anonymous counters are deliberately kept: how many slides you have translated in the current calendar month, and how many Premium activation attempts you have made today. They contain no text, no email address and nothing identifying — they are plain numbers — and they are retained solely so the free monthly allowance cannot be reset on demand and activation cannot be brute-forced. The slide counter clears itself on the 1st of each month regardless. If you activated a Premium subscription, a one-way hash pairing your checkout email with your Google account (neither address is stored — only irreversible hashes) is also retained, solely so one subscription cannot be activated on many accounts; email info@bilingoplus.com to have it removed or moved.
- Premium verification result ("premium: yes/no") is retained in the same user properties and is removed by the same "Erase my data" action. Paddle retains its own transaction records as required by law, under Paddle's policy.
- Uninstalling the add-on and revoking its access at myaccount.google.com/connections permanently cuts the add-on off from your account; combined with "Erase my data" this leaves no stored data behind. You can also request deletion assistance at any time via info@bilingoplus.com.
Google Workspace API Limited Use compliance (including AI/ML)
Affirmative statement: The use of raw or derived user data received from Workspace APIs will adhere to the Google Workspace API User Data and Developer Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.
- We do not use, transfer, or sell any Google user data — raw, aggregated, anonymized, or derived — to create, train, or improve any machine-learning or artificial-intelligence models, whether foundational, generalized, or our own. No such pipeline exists.
- The text of your open presentation is sent to OpenRouter under our account solely to produce the translation that you explicitly requested — and for no other purpose. We do not retain it, and we do not use it to train anything. OpenRouter's own handling is governed by its terms and privacy policy.
- No human — including the developer — reads your Google user data. There is no developer-side access, logging, or storage of it at all.
- Google user data is never used for advertising, profiling, or any purpose other than providing the user-facing translation features described on this page.
